Going Green Wins Gold

Dr. Craft products have been recognised at the Global Green Beauty Awards. The awards celebrate the beauty industry’s move towards making their products, packaging, and sourcing more kind to the planet and our skin. Out of 400+ product entries, Dr. Craft was awarded GOLD and BRONZE in both Sustainable and Natural categories. Dr. Craft Mandarin Antioxidant Rescue Serum won GOLD in the Best Sustainable Product category. Dr. Craft Antioxidant Rescue Serum repurposes the mandarin peel left as a by-product of the food industry. Due to its waxy nature, this peel is challenging to compost and is often incinerated as it cannot be landfilled, mulched or composted. It’s estimated that the mandarin canning industry in China produces up to 10 million tonnes of peel waste annually.

The Dr. Craft sustainable solution brings new life to this mandarin peel by extracting its incredible antioxidant benefits to create high-performance skincare. The Mandarin Soothing Cream Cleanser won BRONZE in the Best Natural Cleanser category. Sharing the same sustainable credentials as the Antioxidant Rescue Serum, this natural cleanser has skin brightening, soothing, and UVB-induced skin damage resisting properties. The Mandarin extract is rich in antioxidants Hesperidin and Narirutin while being supported by soothing Apricot & Sweet Almond Oil to deliver a boost of hydration during cleansing. The range has been formulated following years of research and development at the University of Leeds by research teams led by me and Prof. Chris Rayner and at Keracol Limited. The products have been commercialised through a joint venture between Keracol Limited and Ellipsis Brands. Read more about the sustainability story behind the technology here.
